It’s UK National Orgasm Day! & LELO Wants You To Make the Most of It

Well, it turns out that today, Friday July 31, is National Orgasm Day in the UK. Now, I’ve never needed a reason to have an orgasm, but if I ever did, this is as good as any. It’s like the whole of the UK is supporting your need to feel good, nay, FANTASTIC! I say have as many orgasms as you can, alone, with a loved one, or with someone you don’t love all that much but know you can have a good time with. Just don’t force it down someone else’s throat! So no flashing your dick to unsuspecting people!

Of course we at BaDoink want you to have as many orgasms as you can, so the good folk at LELO have come up with 7 solid facts on orgasms and why they are great for you, which we are going to share with you right now!

People who orgasm 4 or more times a week look up to 7 years younger

Well, this is why I look like a stunning 21-year-old, cuz I orgasm way more than four times a week. But in all seriousness, Dr. David Weeks, a British consultant clinical psychologist and former head of old age psychology at the Royal Edinburgh Hospital, surveyed 3500 people and found those who had more orgasms looked younger. A vigorous sex life, Weeks says, was the second-most important determinant of how young a person looked. Only physical activity proved more important than sex in keeping ageing at bay. Imagine combining both physical activity and sex. My-oh-my, I believe we’ve found the secret to eternal youth.

Orgasms are a great natural stress relief and are known to actually relieve pain

Orgasms are said to relieve migraines and headaches – I’ve tried it before and it’s worked, only if you have that orgasm as you feel the headache closing in. When we orgasm the hormone oxytocin is released from nerve cells in the hypothalamus (a region of the brain) into the bloodstream and this molecule, affectionately known as the “love molecule”, helps people feel warm and fuzzy and induces feelings of optimism, increased self-esteem and trust. Studies have also shown that a rise in oxytocin levels can relieve pain including from headaches, cramps and overall body aches. Whether alone or with a partner, before you reach for the pill bottle, have an orgasm.

Semen has antidepressant properties

Well, this might be a bit of a stretch, but hey, it’s nice to think of spunk as the thing that will make you happy! A study from the State University of New York found that women who regularly have unprotected sex are less depressed. Why might that be? Well semen contains a hefty cocktail of molecules including mood-elevating estrogen and oxytocin, cortisol, melatonin, antidepressant prolactin, thyrotropin releasing hormone and serotonin.

Orgasms boost the immune system

Finally, something we love and we don’t have to moderate it. According to the British Medical Journal, there’s a strong correlation between orgasms and mortality rates. Those who orgasm two times a week or more can add up to eight years on to their life. Why? Apparently it boosts the immune system, heart health and brainpower. So orgasms make us not only look younger they help us to live longer too. Well… I haven’t fallen sick in a while, and that’s probably because of all the orgasms I’m having.

Orgasms get better with age

The LELO Global Sex Survey shows only 4% of females are fully satisfied with their climax and only 31% orgasm during intercourse. But the older women get, the more satisfaction they report, with more than 75% of those over 60 claiming their satisfaction is better than ever before, and more claim to orgasm during intercourse. Whether it’s just from having more practice and knowing your body better, or the fact that older couples are more comfortable bringing a couples sex toy like the IDA™ or Hula Beads™ into the bedroom, we can’t be sure. Whatever the reason, finally there’s something to look forward to about getting older.

You can actually train yourself to have a better orgasm

If you think that your orgasms aren’t quite rocking your world just yet, don’t worry because yes, you can train your body to have better orgasms. The answer is Kegel exercises – and it works for both men and women. Just by performing regular Kegels, you can increase the intensity and frequency of orgasms!

Dr. Ian Kerner, author of She Comes First says: “Your intimate muscles are like any other muscle: their power and efficiency improve with a regular work out. It doesn’t need to be a long, tiring, training regimen. You can begin right now, wherever you are: just squeeze your Kegel muscles for 10 seconds and release, then start again as many times as you want throughout the day.”

Helps tackle insomnia

It’s no surprise that many people masturbate just before sleeping, it’s a great sleeping aid! While (anecdotally) sleepiness after orgasm is more associated with men than women, it can actually similarly affect both sexes. As stated above, our brains release a cocktail of chemicals upon climax, which include oxycotin and vasopressin. These chemicals are associated with releases of melatonin, which help regulate your sleep. And, of course, orgasms soothe anxieties and better prepare you for a solid night’s rest.

So don’t hesitate people; have that orgasm and let it rip right through your whole body… and not just today! Happy Orgasm Day UK!
