Thanks to movies and R&B songs most of us seem to think that great sex needs to last ‘all night long’. Well I’m here to bring relief (or disappointment to some). The cold, hard truth on the actual average length of sexual intercourse!
The average ‘desirable’ length of actual intercourse (that’s without foreplay) according to the Society for Sex Research and Therapy is… 7 – 13 minutes. That’s right! 10 – 30 minutes can be ‘too long’ and 1 -2 minutes is ‘too short’.
The study also emphasizes the misconception the public seems to have on the actual act of sex, which is the “fantasy model of large penises, rock-hard erections and all-night-long intercourse” and which can bring about sexual disappointment and dysfunction. Well BaDoink is here to help keep disappointment and dysfunction to a minimum!
Of course this doesn’t include actual foreplay. If it did, we’re all in trouble because 7 minutes of total sex play isn’t much play at all. However 7 – 13 minutes of actual pump and grind action is enough to satisfy your lady.
That said, saying “I loved her all 7 – 13 minutes” doesn’t have the same satisfying ring as, “I loved her all night long,” does it?
This is where foreplay comes in! Foreplay can start hours before the actual act, sometimes even days (a topic for another article?)! Playing, teasing, sucking, pleasing, all these can add to the actual act of ‘sex’ and make it ‘last’ for hours!
Let’s not forget mutual masturbation, games, toys and of course going at it again (and again) all help to lengthen and strengthen the sexy time.
Bottom line is… go with whatever satisfies both you and your lady and not the actual length of time. However if you feel you got the short end of 7 minutes, then check out our tips on lasting longer during sex.
