Femdom Ball Forced To Cancel After Venue Pulls Plug

The above picture is entirely relevant because yesterday’s news must feel like a kick in the extremities for the femdom community and another moment where people who indulge in safe and consensual sexual practices are marginalized and made to feel like pariahs.

The inaugral Femdom Ball – a chance for many of those involved in the scene to get together and celebrate – was scheduled to take place at an unnamed London venue on Saturday June 20th. According to the statement that dominates the Femdom Ball website, the organizers wanted their event to be kept secret lest people get the wrong idea. Unfortunately that’s exactly what happened. Word of the event seemed to get out and as a result a number of other companies and individuals began cancelling their own events. Instead of trying to appeal to people’s sense of logic and reason (imagine that!) the venue decided to throw the femdom community under the bus instead and very sharply puled the rug out from under their feet.

The result? A lot of very upset would-be revellers who have had their chance to eat, drink and be merry shattered because of the prudish mores of a bunch of stiff-collared goons with rods up their asses. A true shambles if there ever was one.

We spoke to the most-esteemed Mistress Megara Furie who had arranged to attend the Femdom Ball:

What does the cancellation tell us about mainstream attitudes towards things like femdom?

Without knowing exact details I believe it just reiterates the importance of education and awareness of the kink scene. That’s up to us too. We can’t expect the vanilla scene to accept us if we don’t also let them in. Luckily most of the folk I know are very open and willing to speak out positively about their experience as a kinkster. We aren’t monsters or weirdos. Just normal people. Some of who are from affluent, high-powered job backgrounds which in a normal setting would be exactly the clientele the venue would aim to attract. But step outside the box and that changes. Such a shame the venue have likely lost a lot of potential business either directly or via word of mouth. I know I will avoid this place.

What do you feel contributed more to other people cancelling their events when they discovered Femdom Ball would be there: fear, stupidity or just a total lack of logical discourse?

Again, lack of education. Fear if the unknown is a powerful emotion. I can understand that there is a perceived stigma but, to me, kink is as natural as being gay or bi so replace the word femdom with gay pride and we have a whole other conversation. Discrimination is discrimination and buckling to that like the venue did only serves to perpetuate this attitude.

I will say this though. Every single person on this planet has a kink. Ever used sex as a means of control i.e. withholding to punish or obliging to reward or get something? That’s a form of chastity – that’s kink. Ever been restricted even by something as simple as have a hand pinned during sex? That’s a form of bondage – that’s kink. You get my drift

So, you see, everyone is kinky. They are just making it a bad word.
