While the title and the movie poster make it sound like a significantly more serious affair, Abduction of an American Playgirl is as simple and comically silly as it gets for an adult flick.
The film credits no one for its direction or writing (an occurrence I’m sure only happens in porn, as no filmmaker I’ve ever heard of would reject the chance of a credit), but its unquestionable star is the captivating Darby Lloyd Rains, playing the beautiful Jackie Miller. In fact, with the exception of the last girl-on-girl and subsequent threesome by the end, she’s the only woman that you’ll see fucking in this movie. But what a wonderful job she did.
The movie opens with two dudes named Will and Fred (Eric Edwards and Alan Marlow) driving along the countryside to peaceful music. Lonely, bored and horny, the guys stop by a convenience store and notice a hot girl coming out of it and figure they could, you know, force themselves on her. But fucking her in the backseat would have made them feel like teenagers, so they take the clearly more adult and consequence-free decision of kidnapping her and taking her to an empty cabin.
The actual abduction is not their best acting moment. Jackie fainted out of the blue, and Will pretended she kicked him in the balls in that (non-existent) struggle, when it’s visually clear she didn’t. Listen, it must have been in the script, and this is porn, so let’s move on…
While going through her stuff, Will determines she comes from a wealthy family, and there is more to be gained than just sex. Ransom, his more timid friend warns him, is going to bring a lot more attention. They decide it won’t, though, because that only happens when people ask for too much. If they only request $5,000, Will assures him, things will be fine.
But while they think this is a regular rape scenario, they are both surprised to find out Jackie can’t have enough. Literally, she just wants sex all day, every single day. The dudes quickly move on from being greedy, dumb rapists to sex-exhausted morons who now fear not only jail time, but the insatiable lust of a woman who won’t let them rest for a second.
A nice montage of her alternating sex scenes with both dudes is shown, with some pretty good angles. A couple of the scenes feel real and intense, although the music in the background is a little too epic for the moment.
Another sped-up threesome between Jackie and the guys is also worth mentioning, recounting a series of sexual events in one long, carefully orchestrated take.
There might not be a harder task than making what was promising to be a kidnapping/rape story into a light-hearted, easy to watch movie, but that was accomplished, and I was kind of glad about it. This is not quite the rape/revenge film that you’d expect; it’s more about a reckless nymphomaniac who’s just out there to have fun, and any idiots that get in the way of that better be careful with what they wish for.
In a way, I expected a “better”, more complex, more self-involved movie; but sometimes when you’re not in the mood for anything heavy, this might be exactly what you’re looking for.
