On August 8, renowned porn star Christy Mack was brutally beaten up by her ex-boyfriend Jon “War Machine” Koppenhaver at her home in Las Vegas.

Domestic violence is sadly a common occurrence for a lot of women out there, but we can only imagine how worse it gets if the attacker also happens to be a seemingly psychotic professional MMA fighter.

The couple had been dating on and off for the past 15 months, effectively ending their relationship in May, when Koppenhaver moved out of her house and back to California.

However, while Christy was enjoying a quiet night in with a friend, War Machine had other plans. When he showed up at her home and saw her hanging out with her friend, Corey Thomas, he allegedly uttered no word and simply started beating Thomas up and held him in a “rear naked choke” before eventually releasing him and threatening to kill him if he reported any of that to the authorities. War Machine just focused on Christy after that. The physical and psychological beating that ensued is hard to process, especially when you look at some of the pictures.

Koppenhaver, who was on the run after the incident, was finally captured in a hotel right outside Los Angeles. After the arrest he tweeted: “The cops will never give me fair play, never believe me. Still deciding what to do but at the end of the day it’s all just heart breaking.”

I don’t know that his heart is payback enough for the dozens of broken bones on Mack – not to mention the psychological torture – but his attorney Brandon Sua defended him publicly, stating that media coverage had been one-sided and incomplete.

“The hardest thing for my client is seeing the responses from the media, the public. There’s been a lot of statements on one side,” Sua told KTLA.

“The media has done a good job of painting my client as a monster, but my client is not a monster. He is a good guy.”

That might be a bit harder to sell to people, especially after Sua also said War Machine did “nothing wrong”.

In a revealing statement, Mack recounted the horrifying details of that night: “He made me undress and shower in front of him then dragged me out and beat my face. I have no recollection of how many times I was hit. I just know the injuries that resulted from my beating. My injuries include 18 broken bones around my eyes, my nose is broken in 2 places. I am missing teeth and several more are broken. I am unable to chew, or see out of my left eye. My speech is slurred from my swelling and lack of teeth. I have a fractured rib and severely ruptured liver from a kick to my side. My leg is so badly injured, I have not been able to walk on my own. I also attained several lesions from a knife he got from my kitchen. He pushed the knife into me in some areas including my hand, ear and head. He also sawed much of my hair off with his dull knife.”

You know, regular “good guy” actions; the kind of dude that does “nothing wrong”, clearly.

“After some time, the knife broke off of the handle and he continued to threaten me with the blade. I believed I was going to die,” Mack confessed.

At some point Koppenhaver went into her kitchen, where she assumed he was looking for a new knife. Mack was able to escape then, running out of her backdoor and hopping the fence to a golf course behind her house. She kept frantically knocking on neighbors’ doors until one answered and she was brought to the hospital to attend her multiple injuries.

This, as you can probably imagine, was also far from the first time he had done that to her.

“He has beaten me many times before, but never this badly. He took my phone and cancelled all of my plans for the following week to make sure no one would worry about my whereabouts. He told me he was going to rape me, but was disappointed in himself when he could not get hard. After another hit or two, he left me on the floor bleeding and shaking, holding my side from the pain of my rib.”

I have to say, I liked that she hinted at his impotence, as that probably bothered him. We live in a world where a fact like that is what makes some guys feel less “manly”, obviously neglecting to see no real man would be capable of an act of brutality like the one he unleashed on Christy.

Koppenhaver has a well-documented history of violent arrests, and has claimed in more than one occasion that he’s rehabilitated. This incident, however, not only proves once again that he’s not, but it’s definitely not going to look that great on his record. Expect him to do some serious time as a repeat offender. Besides, after beating a woman so badly, having a nickname like War Machine doesn’t particularly endear you to a jury.

While we hope this douchebag spends as much time away from society as possible, Christy Mack is recovering slowly and is very grateful for the support that the porn community and everyone else has given her.
