Steve Jobs & 5 Other Movies You Need to See

Chills. Chills is what I got when I watched the official Steve Jobs trailer today. Here it is for you to watch too, as well as some other awesome trailers for movies hitting the market over the rest of the year.

Steve Jobs

Release October 9
Oh yeah. Yes. Yes. Yes! This trailer is quick, tense and does not shy away from showing Steve Jobs as the asshole he is purported to be – as well as the legend that he also was. I would insert a GIF of a slow clap, but hey, we’re writing serious articles here, so just imagine that there is one. The movie will premier this fall, and I’m guessing it’s going to be an iPhone 6s/Steve Jobs movie combo. I would totally go for that.

Legend

Release October 2.
Um, this movie has not one Tom Hardy, BUT TWO! I mean come on. I would’ve watched it even if it had only one of him, but to have two, and have him play a pair of London gangsters in the 60s? This is just too good. It seems to have the right mix of comedy, thrills and classic style that makes me believe, along with the Steve Jobs movie, that October is going to be an excellent month.

Sleeping with Other People

Release September 11.
I am uber excited to see Alison Brie in something other than Community. I’m excited to see that more mainstream movies are now exploring different relationship dynamics. Aside from the fact that from the trailer Alison seems to show tendencies of a manic pixie dream girl I have hope that the movie will give us a good, realistic female character. I really hope that the movie doesn’t end with “and then they stopped their ‘playing around’ and found true love and now they only want to fuck each other because that’s the only way to true love.” Be brave, Hollywood!

Ten Thousand Saints

Release August 14
I haven’t seen Ethan Hawke in anything in ages so this comes as a sweet surprise – especially since he doesn’t play another squeaky-clean character. This is a coming of age, drug issues, punk, teens, straight edge scene in the 1980s New York movie. Sure why not!

The Diary of a Teenage Girl

Release August 7
A movie exploring female teen sexuality from the viewpoint of a, um, teenage girl! Perfect! Sounds brave – which is also probably why it’s a ‘quirky indie film’ and not your usual Hollywood fare. Either way, I’m excited to see how it plays out.

Creed

Release November 25
Finally we end this with a look at the Rocky spinoff. Just from the trailer it seems like it holds it own and is not just hanging on as a spinoff. Michael B. Jordan looks effing amazing and don’t tell me you didn’t get a lil’ excited seeing Rocky himself make an appearance. Looks like Thanksgiving this year is going to be epic.
