So far I’ve been listing some pretty big blockbuster films coming out soon that you have to watch. But there are more to films than big blockbuster fares. Here are some really cool movies coming out soon that aren’t blockbuster but still as good – probably better in some cases.

Dope
Release date: June 19th

Think Breaking Bad with a hefty dose of Freaks and Geeks and you probably get Dope. This one was a real winner in the Sundance Festival and from the looks of the trailer it’s easy to see why. It’s a story about a group of teenagers who get in way over their heads while trying to break out of their neighborhood. Dope!

The Overnight
Release date: June 19th

I am soo excited for this. I mean, Adam Scott, Jason Schwartzman and sexual tension? Yes please! From the looks of the trailer, it would seem that they’re trying to get a little bit of swinging action to happen. Not sure how it’ll play out but I am excited to see what happens!

Mr. Holmes
Release date: July 17th

Who doesn’t love Sherlock Holmes? I know there are many versions of him, but now we have Ian McKellen’s take on Mr. Holmes, with a slight twist. This time around we have a much older Holmes. Seems witty and interesting and I just love seeing McKellen in his shoes.

Area 51
Release date: May 16th

Ever since Paranormal Activity, director Oren Peli has managed to change horror. And now after countless Paranormal Activity movies, he’s finally moved on and is giving us Area 51 – an eerie look at the strange things happening at the supposed alien crash site. Fans of his movies (and of horror) will definitely wanna check it out.

A Tale of Tales

Ok, and now one that is here only because it is just so damn weird. It’s supposed to be based on a 17th century collection of fairy tales by Italian author Giambattista Basile, and probably the weirdest thing I’ve seen all week (but it’s early still). It will be awhile before it’s released but I just thought you should know this is what you’re waiting for. Enjoy!
