US Central Command's Twitter hacked by 'ISIS'

The official Twitter account for US Central Command (CENTCOM) has reportedly been hacked by a group claiming to work in the name of fundamentalist terror group ISIS.

CENTCOM’s account has since been suspended after a series of messages were posted. The first tweet on Monday afternoon read: “AMERICAN SOLDIERS, WE ARE COMING, WATCH YOUR BACKS. ISIS.”

Providing evidence that CENTCOM’s systems had been compromised, the hackers posted shots purporting to be internal military documents.

A pastebin file accompanied the attack, claiming it part of a ‘cyberjihad’. Further threats of “no mercy” against “wives and children” were made.

The severity of both the hack and the threats are yet to be verified, but it comes at a time when the US has found itself mired in bad publicity regarding cyber-warfare, as well as the horrors of incidents in Paris and Sydney in recent weeks.

BaDoink will have more on this story as it develops.
