Perhaps concerned that nobody had spoken about her for a few minutes or so, Madonna has waded into the resurgent #FreeTheNipple movement by posting her own collection of raunchy anti-censorship posts on Instagram.
The singer has joined the growing tide of celebrities and women worldwide who are trying to eradicate the odd taboo of showing women’s nipples in pictures or any other media. Madonna chose to highlight the “hypocrisy of social media” by posting a snap of herself in which most of her body is on show, save for the black bars across her nipples.
As we told you in March, Free The Nipple hit the headlines again after an Icelandic student was forced into taking action. Since then social media picked up the tread as the movement gained similar momentum to what it displayed during the middle of last year.
Free The Nipple has also attracted plenty of attention and support from the celebrity sphere. Scout Willis – daughter of Bruce Willis and Demi Moore – hit the headlines in May 2014 after walking down the streets of New York topless to highlight the campaign’s message.
