(Former) Reverend Matthew Makela spent a lot of time in his public life regaling the world with tales of how homosexuals would burn in hell, that transsexuals were abominations… you know, the classic ‘really horrible, malicious bastard’ routine but now – in a thrilling bout of irony – the same ‘man of God’ has been outed as a top that just loves cuddles after his Grindr profile, messages and array of pictures were released to the world. It’s always those who protest the loudest, isn’t it?

Queerty grabbed the exclusive from a source who declined to be named and the resulting fallout has left the Makela’s career and livelihood in tatters. Oh well, at least you can always turn to God. Oh wait no I guess what you’ve been trying to tell people is that God hates gays. That leaves you high, dry and alone now, right?

For the man who has spent much of his life trying to shame and bully people into not believing in who they are and what they could be, it’s difficult to feel even the slightest iota of sympathy. Secretly gay or not, Makela’s views as a Reverend will have damaged, scared and forced people into physical and emotional hiding… or maybe he just wanted no other gay guys around and thus no competition?
