Going on dates has been elevated to such levels that what started out as a way to get to know one another seems to be the cause of anxiety to many-a-man. Sure, there is a little puffery on both sides because we do want to look good, make a good impression and hopefully make the other party fall in love with us, but mostly your date should make it easy for each of you to talk and get to know each other. So once you’ve mustered up the courage to ask her out, follow our easy to follow tips on how to plan the perfect date:

What to do?

Whatever you do, please don’t go overboard. This should be something that doesn’t reek of over-planning or desperation. She might be a catch and you might want to make a good impression, but she’s just a girl and there is no point in elevating her to a point that you come off as needy and desperate. Dinner should be somewhere mid range, somewhere nice but not flashy. Drinks should be in a bar that actually serves good drinks but doesn’t cost a bomb to order. Either way, wherever you take her, make sure you’re both comfortable and you can relax and get to talking.

Tell her your plans

Unless you want to plan a surprise, you should tell her your plans. On that note, please don’t plan a surprise. This is your first date dude. Chill the f**k out. “So I thought we could go to such and such restaurant and then X Bar for drinks after? How’s that sound?” See? Not so hard!

Don’t do this please

Nothing is more annoying than a guy that asks you out and then keeps asking you what you want to do. I’m not saying order the girl around with no wiggle room, but have an opinion and take charge.

Say, “Hey, so I’d love to take you to my favorite restaurant. There’s a dish there I’d love for you to try!”

Don’t say, “So… what do you want to do?”

After the date

Here’s the thing, I firmly believe that if you enjoyed the date, you should tell her. I think a text right after you get her home or part ways saying, “Had fun tonight, have a great night!” or something to that effect is the gentlemanly thing to do. Nothing too extravagant or desperate.

Nothing to it! Enjoy your date and let us know how it goes. Good luck champ!
